Goal: chasing sub-30
Matt McCormack is a distance runner driven by a simple idea: what you get out is what you put in.
Finding out how fast he can go.
Matt started running at 14 with Crewe and Nantwich AC before joining Vale Royal in 2018. University and COVID interrupted his consistency, but after graduating he decided to simplify things and build his life around working and training. He now balances running with working four days a week in a cafe, fitting sessions and long runs around everyday life.
His approach is slightly unconventional. Rather than chasing big mileage, Matt combines running with significant cross-training, using the elliptical to build aerobic volume while managing the demands on his body. It's an approach that has allowed him to keep progressing while finding a training structure that works around the rest of his life.
For Matt, Motion is about having the support around his running to find out where that progression can lead. Strength training, recovery, physio and performance support all sit around the work he is already putting in, helping give him the structure to keep moving forward.
